As you drive through Mono, you may notice the ROAD WATCH© signs. Although it has been official in Mono for many years, the ROAD WATCH© program has been completely re-organized. Under the guidance of the Mono Community Policing Committee, new drop boxes have been made and distributed and revised reporting forms are printed and ready to go.

Under the ROAD WATCH© program, the driver that cut you off and almost caused an accident or the driver who passed you as if you were going in reverse can be easily reported by anyone to police, and action will be taken.

On the first report an official letter will be sent to the vehicle owner and subsequent reports on the same vehicle will result in follow up by the O.P.P. and appropriate charges being laid.

This is a much needed program in the Town of Mono. For a relatively low population, the number of reported motor vehicle collisions is very high and is increasing annually.

If you see an act of dangerous or aggressive driving on our roads do something about it! Take down as much information as you can, (time, location, vehicle colour, make model and license plate) and fill out a ROAD WATCH© incident report form.

Report forms are available at the five drop box locations throughout Mono as well as the Dufferin O.P.P. detachment in Shelburne and through Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) in Orangeville.

ROAD WATCH – This well known program is in effect in the Town of Mono, Caledon, Peel Region, Simcoe and many other areas in Canada and United States. NEW SIGN INSTALLED ON AIRPORT ROAD

A new and updated sign was installed on Airport Road on Monday January 23rd by the Dufferin County Roads Department. Updating this sign was a joint effort between the OPP Dufferin Detachment and the Mono Community Policing Committee. The new sign now accurately reflects the number of accidents, personal injuries, and deaths that have occurred on this very dangerous stretch of road since 1978. Statistics will be updated annually. It is hoped that this sign will help to give drivers pause and reinforce the need for responsible and cautious driving.
